ART-Presents-ADAMS-APPLES-20010101

The Accidental Repertory Theater (ART) is please to announce its next production, ADAMS' APPLES inspired by Chekhov's CHERRY ORCHARD, written and directed by John Strasberg and being presented at the Living Theatre. The production begins performances Thursday May 5th 8:00 pm and opens on Sunday May 8th at 7:30 pm. Performances continue Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 7:30 May 5th through June 5th. All tickets are $25.00. Tickets can be purchased at SmartTix.com or by calling (212) 868-4444. The Living Theatre is located at 21 Clinton Street, between East Houston and Stanton in NYC.

ADAMS' APPLES, inspired by THE CHERRY ORCHARD, honors Chekhov's spirit of writing about contemporary life and people in the world around him. The Adams are characters of today with the attitudes, beliefs, and problems that affect us all -- problems of our economy, the environment, questions about what we mean by success and freedom and whether they are more than material success, greed, and license. The times change, but the questions are the same. What is success? What rules the world, power or love? Can they co-exist in a healthy way? In ADAMS' APPLES every character wants love, and is afraid of not finding it. Audiences familiar with THE CHERRY ORCHARD will recognize the roots of ADAMS' APPLES as they bec! ome involved in the lives and problems of our contemporary characters. And, those who aren't familiar with "The Cherry Orchard" will encounter a play filled with humor, truth, and the comedy and tragedy that make our lives what they are.

Accidental Repertory Theater(ART) was founded in 2005 by Artistic Director John Strasberg as a practical expression of the Organic Creative Process. Weekly professional workshops are a key component of the company, providing an opportunity for each participant to work on his or her creative process and to establish a common vocabulary and way of working. Past works by the company include BRECHT ON BRECHT, Ibsen's A DOLL'S HOUSE, as well as a contemporary version of the play called PLAYING HOUSE. ART produced two works for its Arts-In-Education outreach: The WORLD OF WRITERS (WOW) series, Tennessee Williams: THE WRITER AND HIS WORLD, based on the plays and letters of Tennessee Williams and his mother, EdwIna Williams; and STORY TRAIN, an Arts-In-Education residency, developed by working with NYC public school second graders to develop their own ! theater presentations based on New York City landmarks. Both works are available to schools and libraries throughout the tri-state area. For more information visit www.accidentalrep.org.
