Acker, Pine Set for Boomerang's Reading of THE MONSTER TALES, 2/1

Amy Acker and Larry Pine have been announced for the upcoming reading of THE MONSTER TALES by Mary Jett Parsley Wrenn. The reading will be a part of Boomerang Theatre Company's new Legacy Reading Series and will take place February 1st at 7:00pm at The Actors Company Theatre.

To celebrate The Boomerang Theatre Company's rich history, 2010 will mark the debut of The Legacy Reading Series, a new annual event featuring readings of plays from Boomerang's past seasons. These events will be focused on keeping the spirit of these plays alive, and allow those who might have missed them the first time around a chance to experience them. Proceeds from The Legacy Series will benefit Boomerang's new play development programs.

Kicking off the series will be the lovely and touching adult fable THE MONSTER TALES by Mary Jett Parsley Wrenn. THE MONSTER TALES had its New York premiere with Boomerang in 2002, and tells the story of a lonely young woman who discovers her singular humanity when a monster appears from under her bed. Following Boomerang's production the play was published in New York Theatre Experience's Plays and Playwrights 2004 anthology.

Larry Pine's Broadway credits include: The Seagull, End of the World, ‘Roy Cohn' in Angels in America, Bus Stop. Off-Broadway credits include: Beast, Secret Order, The Shanghai Gesture, Stuff Happens, Enemy of the People, The Women of Lockerbie, Saved or Destroyed, The Designated Mourner, The Chemistry of Change, Mizlansky/Zilinsky, Uncle Vanya, The Disputation, Aunt Dan and Lemon, The Mandrake, Alice in Wonderland, Talk Radio. Regional credits include Kreutzer Sonata (adaptation by Larry & Margaret Pine), Carol Mulroney, Enemy of the People, Wrong Mountain, Light Up The Sky, Heartbreak House, The Taming of the Shrew, Night of the Iguana, A Life in the Theatre, Joe Egg, Henry V and Much Ado About Nothing. Film: OutSourced, TransBeMan, Sweet Flame, Vick Cristina Barcelona, Empire Falls, Door in the Floor, Particles of Truth, Maid in Manhattan, The Royal Tenenbaums, A Foreign Affair, The Shipping News, Woody Allen's Melinda and Melinda, Small Time Crooks, Celebrity, Sunday (Sundance Grand Prize winner), Vanya on 42nd Street, Dead Man Walking, Addicted to Love, and Stranger in the Kingdom. The Boomerang Theatre Company is an award-winning Off-Off-Broadway theatre company based in New York City. Boomerang annually produces a season composed of three programs: free outdoor Shakespeare productions in parks throughout NYC; an indoor repertory series of new, classic and neglected plays; and FIRST FLIGHT, a new play development series of workshops and readings.

In the past eleven years, the Boomerang Theatre Company has produced 42 full productions, including six world premieres, seven New York City premieres and reinvented producing in repertory for small theatres. In 2008, the company was the recipient of the Caffe Cino Fellowship from the New York Innovative Theatre Awards for consistent production of outstanding work. Boomerang has been awarded two New York Innovative Theatre Awards for Burning the Old Man by Kelly McAllister (out of six nominations), a 2002 OOBR Award for The Misanthrope by Moliere, and was selected as a September 2005 recipient of The STAR Initiative from WNYC radio. The company also presented the United States premiere of Irvine (Trainspotting) Welsh's You'll Have Had Your Hole in the NYC International Fringe Festival. Two plays produced by Boomerang have been published in annual Plays and Playwrights anthologies.

The Boomerang Theatre Company is the recipient of The 2008 Caffe Cino Award from The New York Innovative Theater Awards. The 2008 Caffe Cino Fellowship, presented to an Off-Off-Broadway theatre company that consistently produces outstanding work, includes a fellowship to be used toward an Off-Off-Broadway production.
