A life-long admirer of Russian playwright Anton Chekhov, Tennessee Williams often thought of directing a production of Chekhov's THE SEA GULL. His chance to interpret the play finally was realized near the end of his life with THE NOTEBOOK OF TRIGORIN. Williams' genius, combined with the powerful Russian classic, creates a daring new concept for today's American theatre. This fresh look at the classic gets to the heart of the play: what is it to be an artist and in love?
