Brick Theater Presents NO SECOND ACTS: A COLLECTION OF SHORT AMERICAN LIVES, 6/1-3

Brick-Theater-Presents-NO-SECOND-ACTS-A-COLLETION-OF-SHORT-AMERICAN-LIVES-61-3-20010101

The Brick Theater, Inc. presents No Second Acts: A Collection of Short American Lives, appearing as part of DEMOCRACY and featuring new short plays by Gyda Arber, James Comtois, Jeff Lewonczyk, Justin Maxwell, August Schulenberg, Trav S.D., Crystal Skillman, Alexis Sottile, Stephanie Swirsky and Art Wallace, June 1-3, 2012.

F. Scott Fitzgerald said that “There are no second acts in American lives,” and The Brick sets out to prove him right with this collection of one-act plays by several of our playwright cronies. Taking on themes of U.S. history, politics and culture, these little nuggets of Americana take full advantage of our constitutional right to free speech in their wild, varied and often uncouth takes on our national experience.

Whether it’s a historical pageant of women’s suffrage, a wild look at an Internet-obsessed future led by President Cat, a mixed-up mashup of the Lincoln and Kennedy administrations or a poignant reunion of former lovers while standing in line at the polls, these plays present 10 unique and indelible visions of America’s past, present and future by 10 of The Brick’s playwrights. Performances are divided into two bills of five plays each.

Directed by: Pete Boisvert, Hope Cartelli, Heather Cohn, Michael Criscuolo and Morgan Zipf-Meister
