Brick Theater and Clown Me In Present 'Perhaps, perhaps, quizás...,' 9/5

New_York_Clown_Fest_20010101

The Brick Theater, Inc. in association with Clown Me In, presents 'Perhaps, perhaps, quizás...' as a part of the New York Clown Theatre Festival.

Perhaps, perhaps, quizás is a clown piece playing with the idea of loneliness, wait and hope for the right man. In an era where nothing seems to impress one another anymore and longing for "real love" seems to be the burden of time. Grima, our protagonist, is a lonely woman who rehearses once a week the arrival of the so called ¨one¨. Will she get lucky tonight? perhaps, perhaps, quizás...

Perhaps, perhaps, quizás... will run Sunday, September 5th at 5pm, Monday, September 6th at 8pm, Tuesday, September 7th at 9pm, Saturday, September 11th at 8pm, and Sunday, September 12th at 7pm as part of the New York Clown Theatre Festival at The Brick (575 Metropolitan Avenue
between Union Avenue and Lorimer Street, Brooklyn). Tickets ($15 / $10 for Weekend Matinee
Family Shows) may be purchased online at www.bricktheater.com or by calling 1-866-811-4111.

Gabriela Muñoz (Playwright/Director) has a variety of experience in theatre, circus and opera. She
finished her studies at the London International School of Performing Arts (LISPA) following a 2-
year postgraduate course and a year course at the School of Physical Theatre, based on Jacques Le Coq ?s pedagogy, and other drama schools in London. She co founded the company CLOWN ME IN (www.clownmein.com) with fellow colleague Sabine Choucair (Lebanon) and has a strong interest in working with marginalized communities as much as playing with performers from around the globe with a more theatrical purpose. She was part of the documentary A Fool‘s Idea by Brian Bernhard in NY 2009. She has given workshops all around Mexico and recently toured Lebanon, Syria and Jordan clowning at AL JANA Spring Festival with Palestinian children in camps, as a storyteller for the national reading week, for the general public at Awrad Org and VAPA org. (Visual and Performing Arts) and in Brazil with the World Congress IDEA, giving workshops at the University of Belém and some Amazonian communities in the North East of the country.

Valentina Muñoz (Costume design, set design, tech support) completed her Master's Degree in
Costume Design at E.C.A.M. (Escuela de Cinematografía y del Audiovisual de la Comunidad de
Madrid, Spain), after studying Set Design in Spain. She has worked in the area of ‘haute couture' for La Tua Pelle Costura a very beautiful and full of heart workshop where she was in charge of designing and producing unique and lovely shoes as well as headdresses. She and fellow colleague Amaia Álvarez created the shoe brand No Hay Dos Sin Tres which is based on uniqueness depending on the personality and taste of each character. Valentina is now based in Mexico City, her hometown, where she's been developing in the fields of Costume and Art Direction for TV, publicity and films. She has always had a strong interest in Circus and exploring the dynamics and effectiveness of poetic spaces. Valentina has been collaborating with CLOWN ME IN for the last year as a Costume Designer and Art Director.

CLOWN ME IN is a clown theatre company founded in 2007 by Gabriela Munoz from Mexico and
Sabine Choucair from Lebanon, two physically trained actors who studied in London. The company
performs for different communities facing marginalization and poverty. The performances aim is to give the audience the pleasure of feeling, something they might be missing and most importantly to tackle their problems through clowns, play and laughter. Clown Me In explores the universality of personal stories and journeys, seeking to offer the community itself an alternative perspective that stimulates the imagination and go beyond language barriers through the use of different art forms such as clowning and storytelling. Because we believe that it is impossible to tell the stories that we don't know and are not aware of just by writing them on a sheet of paper coming from nowhere, we seek to live the experience, to go through the diverse feelings, emotions and live the moment in several different places we visit.
