(re:) Directions Theatre Company (Tom Berger, Artistic Director; Erin Smiley, Producing Director) is thrilled to announce that Fairy Tales just got fabulous! Ms. Sahara Davenport (RuPaul's Drag Race, "15 Films About Madonna") stars as Jewell in this super-fierce Sleeping Beauty Redux that follows the banishment of the evil queen - drag queen, that is - and her revenge: to put the sweet-faced young prince (Brandon Chinn) to an enchanted sleep from which he can only be awakened by his one true love...his squire (Matthew G Myers). This new work by Joshua Robinson (book and lyrics) and John Bronston (music and lyrics) takes a sly poke at the politics of gay marriage by way of Fairyland.

Fairy Tale formerly had a staged concert reading in the New York Musical Theatre Festival in 2008. RTC's production will be directed/choreographed by Jason Summers (Growing Up '70's starring Barry Williams, Westchester Sandbox Theatre) and music direction will be by the composer (Bronston, also (re:) Directions' Associate Artistic Director). Elyssa Samsel is Princess Deceptia, and David Garry (Sweeney Todd National Tour; Company) and Arley Tapirian also star as the King and Queen, respectively. Rori Nogee, Kenney M. Green, Joe Popson and Bianca Bryan are the Gemstones. Michelle Maccarone is the assistant director, RTC regulars David Withrow and Tim Kaufman contribute costume and lighting design, respectively. Heather Wolensky is the set designer and Katie Kavett stage manages.

Fairy Tale will play a limited run at the LABA Theater at the 14th St. Y from April 21st to May 1st. Tickets are available from www.brownpapertickets.com. More information can be found at www.redirectionstheatre.com.
