Taking place in New York City in 1922, Thoroughly Modern Millie tells the story of young Millie Dillmount, who has just moved to the city in search of a new life for herself. It's a New York full of intrigue and jazz - a time when women were entering the workforce and the rules of love and social behavior were changing forever. Based on the popular movie, the stage version of Thoroughly Modern Millie includes a full score of new songs and bright dance numbers. Filled with frisky flappers, dashing leading men and a dragon-lady of a villainess audiences will love to hate, Thoroughly Modern Millie is a perfectly constructed evening of madcap merriment. Thoroughly Modern Millie features a Book by Richard Henry Morris and Dick Scanlan, New Music by Jeanine Tesori and New Lyrics by Dick Scanlan, not to mention signature tap numbers reminiscent of the Golden Age of Broadway: "The Speed Test," and "Forget About the Boy."

The Gallery Players production of Thoroughly Modern Millie features an energetic cast of 20 singer/dancers that frequent the boards at The Gallery Players as well as the National Tours of Man of LaMancha, Hairspray, The Music Man and FAME. The cast stars Alison Luff, the rising star of this season's Like You Like It, as Millie Dillmount, David Rossetti* as Jimmy Smith, Andy Planck* as Trevor Graydon, Amy Grass* as Miss Dorothy Brown, and features: Justine Campbell-Elliott, Rebecca Dealy, Kristin Donnelly, Debra Thais Evans, Angelyn Faust, Ryan Finley, Roy Flores, Megan Kane, Lauren Kay, Katie Kester, Lorinne Lampert*, George Papas, Jay Paranada, Drew Pournelle, Frank Sansone and Jill Sesso. *appears courtesy Actors' Equity Association.

A New York institution since 1967, The Gallery Players has served actors and audiences alike for more than 4 decades by showcasing burgeoning new talent and offering a home base for theater professionals. Its eclectic programming of intimate revivals and ambitious new work in inventive productions has earned it the reputation of "New York's Best Kept Secret." The Gallery Players is the recipient of the Off-Off Broadway Review's 2000 Award for Lifetime Achievement and was the recipient of New York Innovative Theatre Award for Outstanding Production of a Musical in both 2007 & 2008 for their productions of Urinetown! the musical and Yank! A New Musical. Among its famous alumni are founding member Harvey Fierstein; Broadway regulars Nancy Anderson, Jeffry Denman and Diedre Goodwin; New York theater personality Seth Rudetsky and many others.
