They're back. With more space, more spunk, and an awesome choreographer.

This summer, in celebration of their eighth season, Haberdasher Theatre Inc remounts The Wonderful Remix of Oz. Written by Jeannette Jaquish and Hollie Klem, this retelling still has no room for lollipops and rainbows!

Directed by Hollie Klem, Haberdasher's posh metropolitan spin on this cult-classic lands the Kansas born-and-bred Dorothy (Jen Michaels)-a spunky orphan girl with a heart of gold and an artistic spirit-right smack in the middle of the big city, a place that's surely "no place like home!"

On her cosmopolitan journey, Dorothy navigates much more than the city-that-never-sleeps on her quest to find the Wizard (Matt Giroveanu), the guy who must know the secret to "making it" here-or anywhere! From Eastside to West, she encounters rival witches toting shotguns and wood allergies (Amy Sanchez, Pamela Karp); a paranoid lioness in need of some serious Prozac (Lindsay Arber); an emotionally damaged tin man who still can't commit (Alex Coehlo); and the starving artist, hippy-dippy, scarecrow type your mom prays you never bring back to the ranch (Jeff Foley).

Will her ruby reds make it through all the pavement pounding? (Wait. More importantly, are those real Christian Louis Vuittons?) Will these coming-of-agers blow their big break on one glorious afternoon jaunt through the poppies? Only three things are certain: Dorothy didn't pack an extra pair of commuting shoes, she' sure-as-hell not paying $7 for an apple, and this ain't your kid sister's Dorothy story.

The Wonderful Remix of Oz marks Haberdasher's thirteenth production and is sure to build upon the company's reputation for developing highly entertaining, thought-provoking performance art. A nonprofit theatre company with seven seasons under its belt, the company began when a small group of actors, freshly graduated from conservatory, decided to take matters into their own hands and produce a show written by co-founder Adam Wier (Remember Me). With his direction, as well as that of the company's second co-founder Hollie Klem, Haberdasher Theatre Inc. has produced thirteen shows including Marlowe's Doctor Faustus, Arnold Schulman's Lost, Euripides' The Cyclops, Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, Richard Greenberg's The Maderati and Mac Wellman's Dracula.

The company has also adapted, directed, and performed stories by both Barefoot Books and Lewis Carol at venues such as FAO Schwartz, NYC and Books of Wonder, NYC. They also hold seasonal special topics workshops for theatre artists in New York. Talk-backs and themed soirées highlight their commitment to fostering the exchange of dialogue between artist and audience.
