The Harold Clurman Laboratory Theater Company and Stella Adler Studio of Acting proudly present the world premiere of Sacred Ground, a new play by Christina Gorman and directed by Shelley Butler, opening June 17, 2011.

Founded in 2001, the Harold Clurman Laboratory Theater Company is the professional wing of the Stella Adler Studio of Acting. The Lab Theater produces three plays each year.

Sacred Ground tells the story of former socialite Genevieve Barrows, who spends her days tending the graves of abandoned newborns at the church cemetery and is watched by the pastor and local police sergeant. When a guileless young woman invades their turf, the girl's presence threatens to upend their unsteady lives. The production features actors Sarah Lord, Angela Vitale, Jeff Wills and Noel Wilson.

"It's a powerful play about four lonely people. It is relevant and resonant in the universal search for faith and forgiveness," says Shelley Butler, an award-winning director working at the Lab Theater for the first time. "It's been a pleasure to see everyone here from top to bottom so interested in realizing this story."

Sacred Ground is the latest play by Christina Gorman, an award-winning writer whose work has been presented at Ensemble Studio Theatre, New York International Fringe Festival and more.

The play premieres June 17th at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, 31 W.27th St., and runs through June 30th. Tickets are $15 and available at www.smarttix.com.
