Horse Trade Presents SONG FOR A FUTURE GENERATION 4/29-5/15

Clones, robots and teenage time travelers search for connection at a dance party aboard a satellite. So what if its purpose is to celebrate an exploding star? For the kids in this "sci-fi dance party spectacle" this is going to be the BEST NIGHT EVER.

SONG FOR A FUTURE GENERATION will feature Matt Barbot, Joshua Conkel, Tara Giordano*, Jenny Gomez, Jennifer Harder, Nick Lewis, Zoey Martinson*, Ronica Reddick*, Cal Shook, Alex Teicheira*, Yesenia Tromp, Joe Varca, and Joleen Wilkinson*. *Appearing courtesy of the Actors' Equity Association

The creative team will include Nicole Beerman (Choreography), Tristan Jeffers & Elaine Jones (Set Design), Adam Swiderski (Sound Design), and Grant Wilcox (Lighting Design). The production will be Stage Managed by Cristina Knutson.

The production, presented by Horse Trade Theater Group and The Management, will play at UNDER St. Marks (94 St. Marks Place between 1st Ave and Ave A) April 29-May 15, Thursday through Saturday at 8pm and Saturdays at 3pm. Tickets ($18) are available by calling Smarttix at 212-868-4444 or online at www.horseTRADE.info

JOE TRACZ (Playwright) is a Brooklyn-based playwright whose plays include Boy Wonders, In The Woods Where Wolves Are, and Phenomenon of Decline. His work has been developed or performed at Long Wharf Theatre, Williamstown, Performance Network, ACTF, NYU, 59E59, and the Playwrights Realm. Song for a Future Generation had its world premiere in February with Lights Out Theater Company in Chicago. Joe is a member of the Ars Nova Play Group and a Playwrights Realm writing fellow. He has a BA in English from Kalamazoo College and an MFA in Dramatic Writing from NYU Tisch.

MEG STURIANO (Director) is a teacher and director born and raised in NYC. Some recent directing highlights include: the world premier of Julia Brownell's Extraordinary Circumstances (Trevor Project Benefit), Joshua Conkel's I Wanna Destroy You (EST's Bloodworks '09), Caitlin and the Swan (The Management, AD), Pia Wilson's End of the World (New Perspectives Women's Work Lab), and her own adaptation of The Love of Three Oranges. Meg studied theater at Connecticut College, the National Theater Institute at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, the Lee Strasberg Institute, and the Moscow Art Theatre School. She holds an MA in English Literature from Hunter College. Currently, Meg teaches and directs at Hunter College High School in Manhattan and at Acting Manitou in Maine.
THE MANAGEMENT creates a haven for a community of artists and patrons to experience relevant, moving, unpretentious, aesthetically and financially accessible theater. They are known for their dark whimsy and critical exposés on American culture, while building rock-solid, visceral entertainment. Over the past few seasons The Management has began narrowing their focus to satire, farce, and theatrical exaggeration. Previous productions include MilkMilkLemonade (Chosen as the Best Off-Off Broadway Show of 2009 by New York Press), Caitlin and the Swan, The Scandal (nominated for a 2009 New York Innovative Theatre Award for Best Short Script), and The Chalk Boy.

"The Management...one of the rising companies of the Horse Trade Theater Group, is establishing a distinct reputation for producing magical realist perspectives on broken pieces of Americana...one of New York's hottest hole-in-the-wall theater companies." Ethan Stanislawski, Blogcritics Magazine

" Playwright Joshua Conkel and director Isaac Butler have taken the limitations of the space and their budget and transformed them into theatricAl Gold. This is the kind of political show from up-and-comers you want but rarely get when you think Downtown theater."
Mark Peikert, New York Press (Best Off-Off Broadway Show of 2009, MilkMilkLemonade)

"Clearly the show is on to something. And that something is old-fashioned stuff like, you know, a funny and poignant play, inventive direction and ace acting. In the end theater isn't much more than this, and it shouldn't be any less." Elisabeth Vincentelli, New York Post (Best Ensemble of 2009, MilkMilkLemonade,)
