Hudson Warehouse Announce Free Classics in the Park

Nicholas Martin-Smith, the Hudson Warehouse's Artistic Director, announced today the company's fifth season of Free Classics in Riverside Park. The season kicks off with Much Ado About Nothing, directed by Mr. Martin-Smith, July 10 through August 3, 2008.   The company presents Pericles, directed by David Fuller (former Artistic Director of the Jean Cocteau Repertory and current Executive Director of Theater Ten Ten), August 7 through 31, 2008.  The performance schedule is Thursday through Sunday at 6:30 pm for both productions.

Known as "The Other Free Shakespeare in the Park", the Hudson Warehouse has continued to grow and enchant audiences of the Upper West Side for the past four years.  Gothamist.com raves, ""A different play from Shakespeare, a different park; free tickets, and no lining up with thousands of others all day."

Nicholas Martin-Smith (Artistic Director)founded the Hudson Warehouse, along with Ashley Kelly-Tata in the winter of 2004.  He directed, and appeared in the company's inaugural production of The Tempest the following summer.  He also directed Twelfth Night: Or What You Will, Love's Labour's Lost as well as last season's As You Like It.  Other directorial credits include Hotel America at the Metropolitan and Think Twice with the O.T.C. both of which had the film rights picked up. Mr. Martin-Smith has worked for years as an actor, most recently appearing Off-Broadway as Frank Deluca in The Rise of Dorothy Hale at St. Luke's Theatre and as Harrison Brent in Perfect Crime at the Snapple Theatre Center. In addition to private coaching, Mr. Martin-Smith has taught acting at Brooklyn College, Marymount Manhattan College, St. Francis College and at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy.  He is the recipient of the Monroe Lippman Founder's Award for Acting, and a Best in Boston Award for his performance in the title role of David Mamet's Edmond.

David Fuller (Director, Pericles) is an actor, director, producer, teacher, designer, theater critic and arts advocate whose professional career spans over thirty years. He is Executive Director of Theater Ten Ten, an AEA theater at 85th & Park. Recent directing: Rodgers & Hammerstein's A Grand Night For Singing (Theater Ten Ten); Brecht/Weill's Happy End (Innovative Theatre Award Nom., Best Musical 2007 – Theater Ten Ten); Brecht's Mother Courage (world premiere, Blitzstein trans. – Cocteau Rep.).  A member of the National Theater Conference, David resides in Brooklyn Heights with his wife and partner Judith Jarosz.
