Bette Davis AIN'T FOR SISSIES is set on Academy Awards night 1939. After the LA TIMES prints the names of the winners, Bette knows that Vivian Leigh will win Best Actress for her role in Gone With the Wind. Bette decides to leave the ceremony before the awards presentation begins, but her mother, Ruthie, convinces her to stay until the end. What ensues is an interior dialogue, with historically accurate details, as well as an insight into the struggle and fight of an actress whose voice would not be quelled.

Bette Davis AIN'T FOR SISSIES will debut at the FringeNYC festival on Friday, August 12th, 2011 at 9:15PM at the Kabayitos Theater CSV Cultural and Education Center. Bette Davis AIN'T FOR SISSIES was born after Jessica wrote and performed a 30-minute show portraying Bette Davis as part of THE REDHEADS. In 2010, THE REDHEADS ran off-off Broadway to excellent reviews. The show was directed by Susan Batson and produced by Slices of Lives. Following the run, Jessica began writing the full-length play.
