MMAC Theater Extends The Amazing Max and The Box of Interesting Things

MMAC-Theater-presents-The-Amazing-Max-and-The-Box-of-Interesting-Things-20010101

The MMAC Theater announces the further extension of the only weekly family magic show in NYC, the Off-Broadway run of The Amazing Max and The Box of Interesting Things, extended by popular demand through June 30, 2012.

About the show: The Amazing Max and The Box of Interesting Things is a Magic Show with a mind of it's own. Magician Max Darwin makes objects appear out of thin air, as the laws of physics are defied, and miracles are performed inches from spectators' faces. As the props onstage seem intent on surprising even the magician himself, this out of control show bursts with striking visual magic, comedy and juggling, and loads of audience participation.  The Amazing Max and The Box of Interesting Things is the wackiest, most interactive, highest energy magic show for families on the market today.

The Amazing Max and The Box of Interesting Things is performed at the MMAC Theater located in the Manhattan Movement & Arts Center at 248 W. 60th Street, NYC (between Amsterdam and West End Avenues) in the Lincoln Center area. The MMAC Theater is the newest, most sought after off-Broadway destination for family shows with a current roster that includes Freckleface Strawberry the Musical and Pinkalicious the Musical.

"I am both proud and overjoyed to have The Amazing Max and The Box of Interesting Things as part of our family programming at the MMAC Theater. I have followed Max Darwin's career for several years and consider him one of the most talented and diverse artists I have seen. His show is both captivating and entertaining for audiences of all ages," said Rose Caiola, Artistic Director of Manhattan Movement and Arts Center and Producer of Freckleface Strawberry the Musical.

Front row seats available on the Magic Carpet (VIP seating) $49.50, regular general admission tickets $29.50.  Tickets are available at www.telecharge.com or by phone at 212-239-6200 or 800-432-7250.

Performances: Saturdays at 4:30pm through June 30, 2012. There will be an additional performance on Sunday, March 18 at 4:30pm. Special mid-week performances have been added at 3pm on Wednesdays, March 21, 28 and April 11, as well as an 11am performance on Monday, May 28. No performances: Saturdays, March 17, 24, 31; April 21 and June 9.

About Max Darwin

Max Darwin was born to entertain.  He began charming audiences at the young age of five months, traveling all over the United States alongside his parents who were professional street performers specializing in clowning, mime, juggling, and magic.  Throughout the years, Max Darwin has emerged as one of the most sought-after magicians in New York.  His natural ability to amuse both children and adults alike, has firmly cemented Max as one of New York's most elite in-demand family entertainers.  Since 2000, he has performed more than 3,000 magic shows with a client roster consisting of a veritable who's who of New York celebrities such as Uma Thurman, Chazz Palminteri, William Baldwin, Diana Ross, Steven A. Cohen, Ethan Hawke, Jeremy Sisto, Tommy Hilfiger, and many more.

In addition to his remarkable accomplishments as a Magician, Max has studied tightrope with Phillipe Petit; Mime with Tony Montanaro; and Clowning with many master clowns including Fred Garbo and Bob Berky.  He is also a classically trained actor, with a BFA in Theater from Purchase College.

In 2003, Max was handpicked as the host of the hit Nickelodeon show GAME FARM!  Max has also been a featured actor in many Off-Broadway plays and numerous TV commercials for companies like Axe Body Spray, Verizon, Bank of America, and Coca Cola.

Max will release his first instructional Magic DVD for kids "MAGIC IN MINUTES!," available for purchase in Spring 2012.
