Marilyn Monroe, Andy Warhol, Arthur Miller Influence A CRUCIBLE at The Wild Project, 1/10-1/19

Perfect Disgrace Theater presents the world-premiere of Brian Bauman's A CRUCIBLE – a new play influenced by the diaries of Marilyn Monroe and Andy Warhol, as well as the writings of Arthur Miller and John Huston's film "The Misfits" – directed by Kate Gagnon (TECHNODOULIA DOT COM) with previews beginning January 10 prior to an official press opening of January 13 at The Wild Project (195 East 3rd Street) in Manhattan.

A CRUCIBLE follows the drama club at "Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception" High School as it sets out to stage Arthur Miller's classic play – "The Crucible." Conflicts erupt when ideas about sexuality and contemporary performance begin to influence the young performers and their approach to the production.

The cast of A CRUCIBLE will feature Heather Litteer, Haley Rawson, Sarah O'Sullivan, Emma Ramos, nicHi Douglas, Rebecca Kopec, Michael Brusasco, Robb Martinez and Chris Tyler. Design team for A CRUCIBLE is Chris Barlow (sound design), Tara DeVincenzo (costume design), John Eckert (lighting design), Kerry Chipman (set design), and Madeleine Gallagher and Adam Savje (projection design).

Brian Bauman is a playwright and founder of Perfect Disgrace Theater, and has been producing experimental queer plays since 2006. Bauman's writing has a cult following and is known as a "playwright's playwright." Suzan-Lori Parks says "Brian Bauman's writing is thrilling, sexy, political and rude. He's making provocative, in-your-face theatre - not for the timid, or, perhaps, just what the timid need." His work has been presented at HERE Arts Center, LaMama Galleria, The Wild Project and Collective Unconscious in NY; The Broad Art Center @ UCLA, Company of Angels Theater, Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibtions L.A.C.E., Los Angeles Theater Center, Theatre of NOTE in Los Angeles; CounterPULSE, Poets Theatre Jamboree at California College of Art and the RADAR Reading Series in San Francisco; and the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art and the Dairy Art Center in Colorado. He is a MacDowell Colony Fellow, a resident of the Radar Lab in Akumal Mexico, and holds an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts.

Kate Gagnon (Director) is a New York based director focused on devising and developing bold new work. Recent projects include: RAVISHING CARLOS/RAVISHING CHRISTINA at the Dixon Place HOT! Festival, TECHNODOULIA DOT COM V2.0 at The Living Theater, and IFAUST and LIFE OF LEISURE with playwright and performer Chris Barlow. Kate has assisted Young Jean Lee, Paul Lazar, Rachel Dickstein, and Tea Alagic, among others. She is one third of brainchild, a theatrical collective.

A CRUCIBLE will play January 10 through January 19 with a performance schedule of Thursdays – Sundays at 8:00pm; Saturday matinees at 3:00pm and an added performance on Wednesday, January 16 at 8:00pm at The Wild Project (195 East 3rd Street) in Manhattan. Tickets are $18 general admission, $15 students and seniors and can be purchased online at www.TheWildProject.com.
