Photo Flash: First Look at Adhesive Theater Project's THE SERVICE ROAD

Adhesive Theater Project presents the World Premiere of The Service Road, written by Obie Award winner Erin Courtney and directed by Meghan Finn. The Service Road runs from January 11 - February 2, 2013 in a limited engagement at the New York City College of Technology's Voorhees Theatre, located at 186 Jay Street in Brooklyn. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the show in the photos below!

A violent storm of mythic proportions hits Prospect Park. The once peaceful service road turns strange and even savage as a nature guide attempts to find a lost child. On her quest she meets the denizens of one of the few natural places left in a large city. The nature guide is a modern day Hercules trying to do penance for a very bad thing she had done when she was out of her mind. Erin Courtney examines what it means to be of service and the true nature of forgiveness. Sparse poetic language, the introduction of an innovative video puppet and a gravity defying set come together in a highly visual multi-media production.

The cast includes Cory Einbinder, Kalle Macrides, Claire Moodey and Caroline Tamas.

The creative team includes Cory Einbinder (Video and Puppet Design), Michael Riccio (Set Design), Sue Brandt (Lighting Design and Production Manager), Tilly Grimes (Costume Design), Mark Bruckner (Sound Design, Composer and Musician), Erin Grabe (Special Projects), Alice Tavener (Costume Design Associate) and Maria Sideris (Stage Manager).

Erin Courtney's play, A Map of Virtue, produced by 13P, was awarded an Obie Award and described as "a delicate gem" and "a resonant tale of loss" by The New York Times. Her other plays include Honey Drop, Black Cat Lost, Alice the Magnet, Quiver and Twitch, and Demon Baby. Courtney's work has been produced and developed by Clubbed Thumb, The Flea, New York Stage and Film, Adhesive Theater Project, Soho Rep, The Vineyard and The Public. She collaborated with Elizabeth Swados on the opera Kaspar Hauser. Courtney is an affiliated artist with Clubbed Thumb and a member of both 13P and New Dramatists.

Director Meghan Finn's work was last seen in Peggy Stafford's Motel Cherry co-produced by Clubbed Thumb and New Georges. The Huffington Post hailed the production as "a great new piece of theatre...the result of Meghan Finn's excellent direction," and NYTheatre.com said, "Top notch performances...Meghan Finn has directed the production with a swift hand and you can see her work throughout...I would not miss this one." In 2011, she directed the celebrated 2011 World Premiere of Mac Wellman's 3 2's; or AFAR. TimeOut NY called the production "stunning," saying "Meghan Finn skillfully directs a game cast," while The New York Times praised, "Meghan Finn and her adroit cast...everything in 3 2's; or AFAR eludes, and deliciously so." Finn recently associate directed the World Premiere of Futurity, a musical by indie rock band The Lisps and Molly Rice at American Repertory Theater and the Walker Art Center under Sarah Benson. She also assisted Ms. Benson on the acclaimed production of Sarah Kane's Blasted. Her work has been seen at Walkerspace, 13th Street Repertory Theater, Dixon Place, 3LD, PS122, HERE, Incubator Arts Project and others.

Since 1999, Adhesive Theater Project has been binding the arts through the bonds of collaboration. Adhesive is dedicated to working with artists in a broad range of fields - from fashion designers to scientists, illustrators to engineers - to create experimental, multidisciplinary work. By challenging these artists to work in the theater Adhesive creates new perspectives for live performance. By integrating live music, visual arts, and technological innovations with metaphor and narrative storytelling Adhesive create epic experiences that excite the audience's imagination.
