RTC Presents THE ALL-AMERICAN GENDERF*CK CABARET, 3/25-4/3

Rapscallion Theatre Collective proudly presents the world premiere of the all-american genderf*ck cabaret, a new play by Mariah MacCarthy. Krystal Banzon directs the limited engagement at the East Village's UNDER St. Marks, March 25 - April 3, 2010.

In this intimately outrageous cabaret, eight gender stereotypes are plucked straight from pop
culture: a Girly Girl, a Manly Man, a Nice Guy, a Gay Best Friend, a Slut, a
Feminist Lesbian, and a Tomboy. Guided by an androgynous, omnipotent MC intent on their redemption, they embark on eight sexy, hilarious journeys from stereotypes to Human Beings.
Along the way, hearts are broken, Pomeranians are purchased, the Pussies of America make their stand, and everyone does the "Single Ladies" dance. Biting yet compassionate, this epic ensemble piece skewers everything from feminism to sexting; from acquaintance rape to infidelity; from homophobia and assault, to loneliness and the bass-ackwards ways we seek affection--just to name a few. The sharp edges of caricature soften; connection replaces spectacle; and men, women, and none-of-the-aboves discover that in a polarized world of pink versus blue, everyone deserves Technicolor.

the all-american genderf*ck cabaret features a diverse cast with backgrounds in performance art, spoken word, theatre and television: Becca Blackwell (Sharon Hayes exhibit, Whitney Museum; Two Headed Calf; Blessed Unrest), John Graham, Brendan Hunt (Twelfth Night, Flea Theatre), Tess Paras* (East Village Fragments, Peculiar Works; TV: Gossip Girl, Law and Order, Kings), Timothy Ryan, Sofia Urista, Steve White (Tectonic Disaster/ Brilliant Coma, Theatre Row), Yolanda K. Wilkinson*(Dubbed "America's Poet" by the New York Times, two seasons on Russell Simmons' HBO Def Poetry Jam) and Miranda Noelle Wilson*(Wickets with Trick Saddle, 3LD Arts Center). *performing courtesy of Actors' Equity Association.

Krystal Banzon directs the all-american genderf*ck cabaret written by Mariah MacCarthy. Sarena
Kennedy is the movement director, lighting design is by Mike Gugliotti, Ashley Pridmore-Abrego is the set designer, Nina Vartanian is the costume designer, Karla Calderon is sound designer and visual design is by Vidkidz. Christophe Anderson is the production manager for Rapscallion Theatre Collective, Marissa Bea is the technical director and Jesse Geguzis is the assistant director/stage manager. Graphic design is by LeeAnn Jacobs.

Rapscallion Theatre Collective's the all-american genderf*ck cabaret opens Thursday, March 25 and continues Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7pm through April 4th. All performances take place at UNDER St. Marks, located at 94 St. Marks Place (between First Avenue and Avenue A - Basement Theater, not wheelchair accessible) New York, NY 10003. Take the F train to 2nd Avenue/Lower East Side, 6 to Astor Place, L to First Avenue.

Tickets to the all-american genderf*ck cabaret are $18 and are available by calling SmartTix at 212-868-4444, or online at www.rapscalliontheatrecollective.com.

It is the Rapscallion Theatre Collective's goal and desire to evoke change, educate, and learn through our journey of performance art. To establish a community where fellow artists can feel a sense of freedom to pursue and conquer their artistic endeavors. To return to a time when theatre was not only viewed for its entertainment value but, also lead our audience toward a vision, thought, or memory; one that would support and guide them into making changes in their lives and/or surroundings. To use theatre not only as an art but, as an aid to better the human race and develop stronger relations within our communities.

Mariah MacCarthy (Playwright) is a San Diego-bred playwright, director, occasional dramaturg and Jill of all trades. Writing credits: A Man of His Word (Playwrights Project at The Old Globe), Ampersand (Looking Glass; Winner, Winter Forum Best Script/Production) Dismemberment (Players Theater), After the Tower (Inbred Hybrid Collective). Associate Producer of FOUND at Ars Nova. Proud Skidmore graduate.
