SEEING JERUSALEM Continues Hangar Theatre's Pilot Reading Series, 4/23

The Hangar Theatre's Pilot Reading Series in NYC continues with a reading of Seeing Jerusalem, a new play by Seth Greenland. The reading is Monday, April 23rd at 7 pm at One on One Studios, 34 West 27th Street, 11th floor (between Broadway and Sixth Avenue). The reading will be directed by Roger Danforth.

Jewish New Yorker Will Solomon is spending a Midwestern Christmas with his wife's WASP in-laws. The holiday cheer is flowing, the entire family is fighting, and now Will is hearing voices telling him "The Revelation is nigh." It's enough to send a man on a trip to Jerusalem in a last-ditch attempt to salvage a faltering marriage. Through their struggles in the ancient city, the couple's journey becomes far more meaningful and surprising than they ever expected – especially when your in-laws tag along. A wonderful comedy about the very human need to find love and faith in our lives – plus a few nice gifts for the folks back home!

The cast of Seeing Jerusalem features Leslie Carrara-Rudolph (Sesame Street, Forgetting Sarah Marshall) Tony Nominee Erin Dilly (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Boys from Syracuse), Lianne Kressin (Project Shaw), Brad Oscar (The Addams Family, The Producers) and Richard Topol (The Normal Heart, The Merchant of Venice). Seth Greenland (Playwright) Seth Greenland is a writer, playwright, and screenwriter. The Bones, his debut novel, was published by Bloomsbury in 2005 and has been translated into French. Movie rights were optioned by Sony. His second novel, Shining City, was published by Bloomsbury in 2008 and has been translated into French, Dutch, Italian and Chinese. Movie rights have been purchased by Warner Brothers and the project is currently in active development. The Angry Buddhist, his forthcoming novel, will be published in 2012. A new short story, Bad Night in Hyannisport, will appear in the anthology Cape Cod Noir, published by Akashic.

His play, Jungle Rot, was the recipient of the Kennedy Center/American Express Fund for New American Plays Award and the American Theatre Critics Association Award. It was published by Dramatists Play Service and anthologized in Best American Plays, 1995-1996. His other produced plays include Seeing Jerusalem, a finalist for the Critics Award, Red Memories and Girls In Movies. Television credits include a two-year stint as a writer/producer on the Emmy-nominated HBO series Big Love. Mr. Greenland was one of the original bloggers on the Huffington Post. His work has also appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Newsday, Chicago Tribune, the Baltimore Sun, Written By, and the literary journals Black Clock and the Southern California Review and the anthology The Devil's Punchbowl. His writing has been nominated for The Pushcart Prize. He has taught at the UCLA Writers Program, and guest lectured at NYU, USC, and UC-Riverside. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife Susan Kaiser Greenland and their two children.
