'SEVEN IN ONE BLOW, OR THE BRAVE LITTLE KID' Opens 12/5

Axis Theatre Presents 7th Annual Holiday Family Show
SEVEN IN ONE BLOW, OR THE BRAVE LITTLE KID featuring an on-film appearance by Deborah Harry 3 Weeks Only! December 5 - 21

Axis Company present its 7th annual production of SEVEN IN ONE BLOW, OR THE BRAVE LITTLE KID beginning December 5th. Adapted from the classic fairy tale by The Brothers Grimm, this interactive winter play with music is conceived by Axis Company and directed by Randy Sharp featuring Axis' signature blend of advanced technology and live performance. This heart-warming holiday tale was created for kids, but adults can (and do) find their own level of meaning in the text (and subtext).

Set just before the holidays on a snowy winter day, SEVEN IN ONE BLOW, OR THE BRAVE LITTLE KID tells the story of a child living in the city who kills seven flies with a single swat and makes a belt emblazoned with "SEVEN IN ONE BLOW" to commemorate the event. The Kid travels about through the snow meeting numerous colorful characters including the Scarlet Pimpernel, a Pea, December, a Witch, an Ogre and a Princess. Most people think this belt refers to seven people and assign the Kid all kinds of difficult tasks based on this faulty presumption. Along the way a few invaluable lessons are learned: an Ogre finds that you don't always have to show how strong you are to be strong; a girl realizes that when you tease someone you may be hurting a person who is just like you; and a scary monster understands that because she is loved, she may not be so scary after all. In the end, after a surprise twist, the Kid ultimately discovers that a parent's love and care has no limits.

The cast of SEVEN IN ONE BLOW, OR THE BRAVE LITTLE KID stars Abigail Savage, Marc Palmieri, David Crabb, Jim Sterling, Brian Barnhart, George Demas, Lynn Mancinelli, Sue Ann Molinell, and Edgar Oliver -- with a special on-film appearance by Deborah Harry as the Mom. The production features costumes by Lee Harper & Matthew Simonelli, lighting by David Zeffren, sound/music arrangement by Steve Fontaine, and original songs by Randy Sharp.

Through the careful utilization of various media Axis Company has produced an eclectic series of original and published plays with highly advanced, state of the art technological components that enhance the internal meaning of the material. Past productions include Buchner's Woyzeck, Beckett's Play, Benjamin Baker's 1848 sensation A Glance at New York, the U.S. premiere of Sarah Kane's Crave starring Deborah Harry and the episodic play Hospital, about the interior life of a man in a coma. SEVEN IN ONE BLOW, OR THE BRAVE LITTLE KID will be published by Dramatists Play Service this winter.

SEVEN IN ONE BLOW, OR THE BRAVE LITTLE KID will be presented December 5-21, Fridays at 7pm; Saturdays at 2pm & 4pm and Sundays at 2pm. (Please note: all proceeds from the Friday, Dec. 12 performance will benefit St. Jude's Axis Theatre is located at One Sheridan Square (just off 7th Avenue, accessible from the 1/9 train at Sheridan Square). Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids. Running time: 50 minutes. The show is appropriate for ages 4 and up. For tickets call 212-352-3101 or visit www.AxisCompany.org.
