SKIN TIGHT, Presented by One Year Lease Theater Company, Plays 59E59 Theaters 11/7-12/1

59E59 Theaters welcomes One Year Lease Theater Company with Skin Tight, written by Gary Henderson and directed by Nick Flint. Skin Tight begins performances on Wednesday, November 7 for a limited engagement through Saturday, December 1.

From the company that produced last spring’s critically acclaimed pool (no water) comes the internationally acclaimed play Skin Tight. In this bold and brutal love story, a lifetime of fierce love and intense regret is sensuously and powerfully remembered. This mesmerizing play was inspired by the poem "The Magpies" by New Zealand poet Denis Glover.

The cast for the production features Sarah-Jane Casey (The Killing Room for One Year Lease; Xena Warrior Princess) and J.M. Russ (I Am My Own Wife for the Queensland Theatre Company).

The design team includes James Hunting (set design); Mike Riggs (lighting design); Christine Kahler (costume design); and Scott Fetterman (sound design). The play features an original score by Estelle Bajou. Natalie Lomonte (former dance captain for Broadway’s Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark) is the choreographer.

The performance schedule is Tuesday – Thursday at 7:30 PM; Friday and Saturday at 8:30 PM; Sunday at 3:30 PM. Please note there is an additional performance on Saturday, November 24 at 2:30 PM and no performance on Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 22).

Performances are at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues). Tickets are $25 ($17.50 for 59E59 Members). To purchase tickets, call Ticket Central at (212) 279-4200 or go to www.59e59.org.

Nick Flint recently directed Danny Mitarotondo’s "Manmade Mistakes" and Daniel Keene’s "The Killing Room" for One Year Lease and Jane Brodie’s "Ride" for Outhouse Theatre Company at 59E59 Theaters. He recently wrote and directed the short film "Bridge" and directed the short film "Upstanding." As an actor, he has performed with the major Australian state theatre companies including Sydney Theatre Co. in "The Shape of Things" and Melbourne Theatre Co. in "The Recruit." TV credits have included ongoing roles on the Australian dramas "Home & Away," "All Saints," "Love Bytes." Film credits include lead roles in the features "Ned," "The Tumbler", "Forgetting Fish" by Brad Saville (for release this year), as well as numerous shorts. New York theater credits include "Teaser Cow," "The Bald Soprano," "Iphigenia Crash Land Falls," "Bed," and "Death and the Maiden" (NYC and Athens productions) for OYL; "967 Tuna" with the Australia Project and "Reasonable Doubt" (NY Fringe Festival award) at Cherry Lane. He has performed as one of The Flying Karamazov Brothers and has trained extensively with the Siti Company.

Gary Henderson’s plays have been professionally produced around New Zealand, in South Africa, Australia, Great Britain, Canada and the United States. His most well-travelled play is "Skin Tight," which won a coveted Fringe First Award at the Edinburgh Fringe in 1998 during a sell-out season at the Traverse Theatre. The play has gone on to productions in the UK, US and Canada. He received a Chapman Tripp Theatre Award for the best new short play in 1996 for "Mo & Jess Kill Susie," and a Fringe Award for Excellence for "The Big Blue Planet Earth Show" at the Adelaide Fringe Festival in 1992. "Home Land," commissioned and produced by Fortune Theatre in Dunedin (2004) and "Peninsula," commissioned by the Christchurch Arts Festival and directed by Gary at Court Theatre (2005), were written in Dunedin while Gary was resident in the Robert Lord Writers Cottage, and teaching at Allen Hall, the home of the Otago University Theatre Studies Programme. Other commissions include "Lines of Fire" for Wow! Productions, a site-specific work presented at the Dunedin Railway Station in the Dunedin Festival of the Arts 2006 and "Stealing Games" for Capital E National Theatre for Children. From 2006 - 2012 Gary taught playwriting at Unitec's School of Performing and Screen Arts in Auckland.
