The touching new play "Spring at the WIllowbrook Inn" by Jonathan Van Dyke and Douglas C. Evans, will make it’s NY premiere as part of The Fresh Fruit Festival July 26-29. "Spring at the Willowbrook Inn" follows the lives of Cooper Stanwyk and Joshua Hill from their first meeting in 1967 at a motivational conference. This unlikely pair develop a deep relationship based on mutual understanding and love as their lives unfold separately. Through correspondence and decades of meeting at the Willowbrook they become a pivotal role in each others lives, supporting each other through the unpredictabilities each one faces.

“Spring at the Willowbrook Inn” is a comedy and dramatic play that touches on the struggles of different eras, the sadness of regret, and the hope and courage of two people that are ultimately connected. Van Dyke and Evans began writing “Spring” in the summer of 2011. It had it’s first reading in Florida with actors Justin Lore and Shain Stroff under the direction of the playwrights, and most recently at the Ft. Wayne Civic Theatre directed by broadway veteran Harvey Cocks, after being a winner in the Indiana Playwrights Competition. Soon after it was submitted and accepted to The Fresh Festival.

“Spring” stars Jason Patrick Sands (Broadway’s The Producers, Legally Blonde, A Chorus LIne and currently Chicago) and Tom White ( featured as Cowan on The Good Wife, Angels in America, Arcadia, Inherit the WInd at The Cleveland Playhouse). Director Scott Wojcik, is co-owner of Wojcik/Seay Casting. He has been involved in casting commercials, TV, theatre and film for almost twenty years. “Spring” marks the first project of the writing team of Evans and Van Dyke. Evans recently held the position of Chief Operating Officer of Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment and President of Broadway China Ventures, a division of the Nederlander Organization. Van Dyke has written the book to the musicals Totally Electric, which will be on stage again summer 2013 at The David A. Straz Center for the Performing Arts in Tampa, and the seasonal show Holiday Inc. They have recently become lead producers of the new musical “Boynton Beach Club”, by Susan Seidelman (based on her film of the same name) with score by Ned Paul Ginsberg and Michael Colby. Boynton Beach Club recently workshopped with Tovah Feldshuh, Heather MacRae, Alan Campbell and Barbara Walsh. Spring at the Willowbrook Inn opens at The Wild Project 195 E. 3rd St. New York, NY 10009
