The Dirty Blondes Announce SIN IN THE CITY 24-Hour Play Festival at Galapagos Art Space, 2/10

The Dirty Blondes announce their second 24-hour play festival, SIN IN THE CITY on February 10, 2013 at the renowned Galapagos Art Space. The Brooklyn-based collective will bring together a group of playwrights, directors, and actors to conceive, write, and perform seven short plays over the course of 24-hours. The culminating performance will feature seven original 10-minute plays centered on each of the "seven deadly sins" and set in modern day New York City. Founding members, Ashley Jacobson & Alexandra Siladi will team up to create interludes performed throughout the night. Music, drinks and dancing to follow immediately.

The Dirty Blondes mission is to produce works that are dark, refined, and thought-provoking, proving appearances are deceptive. Currently in the application process, each participating artist will be chosen on merit, apparent talent, and proven ability to create works that function outside conventional thought. The final line?up of SIN IN THE CITY will be announced on February 6th.

From a company founded on the idea of a collaborative creative process and maximum impact from minimal design, SIN IN THE CITY will focus on the writing and rehearsal process as an extremely fruitful, efficient development period where individual artists come together to create an unpredictable new play. Each founding 'Blonde' will serve as a resource to participating artists, providing insight, feedback and technical assistance. The goal is to encourage artists to produce their best work possible in a very short amount of time. The final result will be a performance based on raw emotion, first instincts, and uncensored creativity. The festival will function as an artist outreach opportunity for The Dirty Blondes as well as a fundraiser to mount their second world premiere production THE MIRACLE PLAY slated for a spring 2013 opening.

Alexandra Siladi is a UCLA graduate who got her start in New York theater interning
with The Wooster Group, Elevator Repair Service, and the Incubator Arts Project. Ashley
Jacobson studied Playwriting at the New School. Elizabeth Sarkady has previously
collaborated with the New York Musical Theater Festival and acted as Elaine Stritch's
wrangler during her time at Paper Mill Playhouse. All three are blonde.
