The new play (un)missed connections by Mark-Eugene Garcia will be performed as part of the 2012 Planet Connections Theatre Festivity, for 5 performances, from June 6th to the 24th at the Bleecker Street Theatre.

Inspired by Craigslist ads, (un)missed connections is billed as a modern-gay drama. It is a brief glimpse into the lives of eight strangers, brought together through chance – and Craigslist. It’s about being at the right place at the right time, or wrong time. It’s about searching, online, in line, next to you, across an empty room, even on a massage table for a moment, for a connection.

Directed by Rodrigo Bolaños, (un)missed connections features Jaspal Binning (The 39 Clues, It is What It is) as Simran, Israel Bocel (Stepping Out, Angels in America) as Man #1, Edmond Cody III (Whitebred The Musical, The Children of Children) as Eric, Evan Enslow (The Columbine Project) as Caleb, Kyle James Johnson (The Mermaid’s Tale, Pirate Pete’s Parrot) as Jamie, Marco Romeo Leduc as Man #2, Derek Allen Watson as Daniel, and Jere Williams (Frost/Nixon, Heaven Can Wait).

(un)missed connections was developed in the Playwrights Forum with F.A.C.T (Friends Always Creating Theatre) as well in developmental reading with Dreamcatcher Entertainment’s “Talent on Tap” and was a recent honorable mention for the Stark Award in the Memory of Ross Alexander.

As part of Planet Connections, monetary donations will be collected at each performance for GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation). For over 25 years, GLAAD has worked with news, entertainment and social media to bring culture-changing stories of LGBT people into millions of homes and workplaces every day. What people see in the media has a huge impact and GLAAD ensures images of LGBT people and allies grow acceptance, understanding and build support for equality.

Mark-Eugene Garcia, a F.A.C.T resident playwright, is the librettist and lyricist for the musicals The Holy Cows of Credence, South Dakota and Facing East: The Musical and the playwright of the short play Inscriptions.

Rodrigo Bolaños, also a member of F.A.C.T., is an Architecture and Theatre Arts graduate from Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo, CA where he began designing, directing and acting for the stage. He recently directed In the Garden of... and TREASURES, at The Secret Theatre, both with F.A.C.T.
