WIG OUT! Ends Run on November 16 with Benefit Performance

Tarell Alvin McCraney's WIG OUT! concludes its twice-extended run with a special performance to benefit The Vineyard Theatre at 7:30pm on Sunday, November 16 at The Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15th Street), where the critically acclaimed play has been playing to packed houses and breaking box office records that surpass such past hits as [title of show] and AVENUE Q.

Tickets to the special benefit performance of WIG OUT!, directed by Tina Landau, are $100 each which includes the performance at 7:30pm and a VIP invitation to the after-party with the show's dynamic cast: Daniel T. Booth, Joshua Cruz, Glenn Davis, Sean Patrick Doyle, McKenzie Frye, Nathan Lee Graham, Angela Grovey, Andre Holland, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Erik King, and Clifton Oliver.

On Thursday, November 13, 2008, the Theatre on Film and Tape Archive of The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts is set to film the 8pm performance of WIG OUT!, preserving the show which Ben Brantley in the New York Times called "a gutsy, pulsating new play by the astonishing young dramatist Tarell Alvin McCraney... a thorough and original anatomy of an alternative universe. Divine!"

Set nearly twenty years after Madonna's "Vogue" topped music charts and "Paris Is Burning" filled movie theaters, WIG OUT! is a fierce and intoxicating new play that tells of two competing drag houses and the loves, loyalties, and dreams within each that draw their members together and apart.

The production has scenic design by James Schuette; costume design by Toni-Leslie James; lighting design by Peter Kaczorowski; sound design by Robert Kaplowitz; and hair, wig and make-up design by Wendy Parson.

Douglas Aibel is the Artistic Director of Vineyard Theatre; Jennifer Garvey-Blackwell is Executive Director.

Remaining regular performances of WIG OUT! are: Friday, November 14 at 8pm; Saturday, November 15 at 3pm and 8pm; and Sunday, November 16 at 3pm. Tickets are $60. $20 rush tickets are available two hours prior to curtain based on availability.

The special performance of WIG OUT! to benefit The Vineyard Theatre will be held on Sunday, November 17 at 7:30pm. Tickets are $100 which include the performance and after-party with the cast. (After-party location to be announced.)
