Yikes.
From the NY Times article:
===
A courtroom battle would likely force Bono to respond to the e-mail claims that in January 2011, soon after Spider-Man actors were injured because of technical problems and when the musical was a laughingstock on late-night television, he showed up at a creative meeting with supermodels in tow, too drunk on beer to contribute usefully. The producers too would have to rebut e-mails that, Ms. Taymor alleges, show they conspired with Bono, the Edge and others to rewrite the Spider-Man script over which she had approval.
With the new legal papers, Ms. Taymor who is seeking more than $1 million in back pay and future royalties, as well as copyright protections has set the stage for a possible out-of-court settlement, since a trial could tarnish the artists public images....
In a drama worthy of Smash, the new NBC drama about backstage maneuverings in a Broadway musical, many egos are on the line.The Spider-Man Emails

Truly obnoxious, this back and forth circus. After reading the new claim, the basic fact still resides in that 1.0 was a disastrous book, and nothing listed helped prove Taymor wasn't blocking or was participating in a new book. The problems of the show- geek chorus, arachne's 90% stage time, the ultimate confusion, and the ending of the musical each still made it change after change. What she was willing to change was minuscule.
I believe it is ridiculous that now the blame is being shifted to Typsin for not being able to create the web for the finale.
The new version of the show was needed, and it is obvious still that Spider-Man would not be successful as it is now if the actions of the team to create a new version behind closed doors hadn't occurred.
Who thought it was a good idea to give one person complete control over a musical?

The Dramatists Guild gives complete control over the book, music and lyrics to the bookwriter, composer and lyricist.

It makes you agree with William Goldman who so many years ago said a musical can only be successful if one strong person with a vision is in charge. Spiderman had too many "Muscles."

I'm confused as to why this is still going on. Wasn't there an article a few weeks back that said everything was finally settled?

No one says "NO' to Taymor. She will only tolerate people telling her what a genius she is.
