I'd rather Jared just take over on Broadway if they had someone else for the tour and bump Will Blum up to full time standby. Jared is fantastic, and I didn't see Ben, but Jared really is the part.
Any word on when the Josh and Andrew are set to leave. I have tix for 7/7 and would like to see them. Though I don't have a problem seeing it with different actors.
Art has a double face, of expression and illusion.
There still hasn't been an announcement on when Gad or Rannells are leaving. Gad said he'd still be in the show on June 3rd via Twitter, but hasn't said anything about his last performance. I think he'll be leaving sooner than Rannells from what I've heard. It seems like the creative team is having the understudies and stand-bys performing at some shows to see who is going to take over the role. So, it's most likely going to be someone within the company already. I hope it's not till August cause I have tickets for July 15th and I really want to see Rannells and Gad
5 performances left, perhaps? That would put him at leaving Wednesday as someone else stated. Actually, if the fan performance is the Wednesday matinee, it would make that his final performance...not even the evening performance.
No, it was a different fan. Still just a fan saying it, but Andrew will be leaving soon, so it seemed legitimate enough. I think he will be leaving this month at least.
Even if Josh Gad's and Andrew Rannells shows both fail, it's doubtful that either will return to BoM. When actors leave they usually leave for good or for a long time. They will want to pursue other projects, which is why they're leaving BoM if the first place.
That's not necessarily true. Many long running shows, like RENT, recycle actors. Book of Mormon is a very stable show/job, with no chance of a closing notice anytime soon. Not to say that Book of Mormon is going to last as long as RENT, but it's currently a stable job and will be for a while.
Oh I'm not saying they will never return, but it's highly unlikely that they will return within the next few years, and after that they may not be young enough to fit any of the roles. The white cast is relatively young.
I saw the matinee yesterday and asked both Andrew Rannels and Josh Gad when their last performances are. Josh Gad's is the fan performance on Wed June 6th and Andrew Rannels's is Sunday June 10th. Their replacements have not been announced yet. Jared Gertner played the evening performance last night (I went to both) and I asked him if he is replacing Josh and he said he's not allowed to talk about it.
Also, Broadway.com finally posted Josh Gad's last show date (June 6th), but no word on who is replacing him and it doesn't even mention Andrew leaving the show (even though it is June 10th).
