Were the lyrics to And the Money Kept Rolling In rewritten for the revival?

I'm pretty sure he also says "simply disappeared" during "Waltz For Eva and Che." It's supposed to be "simply disappear" so that it rhythms with "clear." I'm sure there's more.

It sounds like, maybe, he learned the music by listening to a recording and not actually reading the correct lyrics in the score.

As far as I know, the lyrics have been "gonna see some good times now" ever since the Concept Recording (with Julie Covington and Colm Wilkinson).

Have to admit I hardly ever listen to the OBC recording, so I don't know if the lyrics are different there...

Never been accounts in the name of Eva Peron" didn't sound quite right either.

I listened to the OBC yesterday and he say the same line. He's referring to her Swiss bank accounts where she hides her embezzled money, which are numbered, not named.

The previous line is something like "when you can sign her checks 35107"

So there are no accounts in her name and therefore untraceable.

I just checked and it's definitely "gonna see" on the concept recording.

What really bothers me is that he sings the line "Name me anyone who cares as much as Eva Peron" twice instead of "Never been a lady loved as much as Eva Peron" the second time. At first I thought it was just a mistake on the recording, but that's how it's written in the lyric booklet as well.

This isn't the first time unique lyrics in this show have been replaced with duplicate ones, either--Sometime around the making of the movie, I think, "and I shall be Rainbow High" became another "I want to be Rainbow High."

I assume Tim Rice is behind this, as he's also tinkered with Jesus Christ Superstar lyrics over the years. I don't particularly like most of the changes to that show either, but at least they seemed driven by some kind of logic.

Taz, I know it's the right lyric (the accounts line). I just thought it sounded weird the way he sang it on the Tonys.

I didn't realize that about Rainbow High, sassy. That IS annoying.
