I will let you guys know - I am not expecting power vocals but I am expecting new and interesting takes on some of the funny moments. I have always thought she was a brilliant comedienne.

At intermission - more details later but I am so happy a pleasantly surprised. Great vocals and brilliant comic timing. Only issue this far is her mic goes into her habit so she keeps fixing onstage. She is so funny.

Did anyone try to get rush tickets today? I was thinking of going tomorrow night but I won't be able to get there til later in the afternoon.

Rush is usually sold out by the time the B.O. opens. A few die hards get there at 8 and then the lines gets super long at 9:45 and they only give out 14 tickets. That's when Patina was in the show, I can't imagine what it'll be like with Raven in the show now. The afternoon sounds highly doubtful.

I really don't get why they don't give out more rush tickets, or at least discounted tickets to people who turn up at the box office before a certain time. Wouldn't they rather get rid of some more seats for $25 or $30 than have them be empty...? Weird. But anyway, it does seem like their rush sells out rather quickly.

A couple of friends of mine rushed Sister Act this past summer and while they didnt get the front row rush seats, they were offered rear orchestra for $40 or so when the front row rush seats had run out - not sure if they're still doing that.

Ok - just got back from the show. Overall Raven exceeded my expectations - her voice was much stronger than I had anticipated and her timing is terrific. Act 1 was very strong from the get-go, and she (and the show) kinda drags in Act 2. The slow songs do not do her any favors, particularly the lower notes but she was out there working hard and selling it. Standing O at the end (not surprising) with a lot of media taking photos. I wish there had been some speech or something. I strongly recommend it.

When people used tape recorders or reel to reel that excuse might fly.

how did Raven work with the cast? Patina and the cast had great chemistry does Raven have good chemistry with the rest of the cast?

i think it will get there - she had great chemistry with Chester and the lead sisters. I think she still needs to get comfortable with the pacing in act 2, there were some odd pauses.

They often will offer $38.50 rear orchestra tickets to the people on line that don't get rush tickets. Annoyingly enough, though, they only extend that offer to the people on the initial rush line, even when there are tons of seats available. For whatever reason (and this puzzles me), you can't stroll up to the box office later on and ask for the $38.50 rear orchestra seats.

considering what their grosses/capacity has been, that's beyond dumb. Several shows that are stuggling have offered "lottery loser" seats for about $40 or so.

Wasn't sure if she had a little wardrobe malfunction there. I was surprised there was no speech or anything.

AdamGreer, why do you find the producers' policy of offering rush prices on rear orchestra seats only for a limited time after the initial set of rush seats has sold out? If that price were available to all comers all the time, how would they sell seats at any higher price on the performance day, when a large percentage of their seats get sold? Even if they sold out, it would erode advance sales and would probably lead to lower grosses than they've got now.

Because I've attended the show on weeknights before when there was no more than about 500 people in the audience, with the entire back half of the orchestra being empty. I highly doubt it would hurt their advance sales significantly- the percentage of people who would know to ask for these seats is incredibly small to begin with.

As for Raven, I remain extremely skeptical.

Because selling a few extra tix at 40 bucks does nothing for their bottom line. They have policies about discounted tix and adhere to them.

To repeat another poster: if they just sold all the tix at a last minute discount, they'd never get anyone to buy in advance, at full price.
