So it's no secret that Sleep No More has the best set design the NY theatre scene has seen in years. I'm very excited to go again on Friday, but I was thinking. If you were able to steal one thing from the hotel (that you're not already allowed to take) what would it be? I'm pretty sure I would take one of the beautiful crystal decanter sets.
I went home with my mask...and a small stone rock. The fortune teller sent me on a chase for the gold stone, which was in a white bird cage in the herbal room. It took me 45 minutes to find it, and since I didn't ever find my fortune teller again, I kept the stone...as well as 5 green hard candies!
I really thought the Memento Mori (Victorian death photo album) was facinating. Was located in the street floor. I think the second shop on the left. Not only were the photos intriguing but the actual album was awesome too. I hope it is still there and remains in place for all to view.
I went to the show early in the run. Several weeks later I went again and it was noticable that items were being taken.
They've significantly reduced the amount of detail in the house. It's still far more in-depth than any design I've ever witnessed and I certainly am not upset by the downscaling, but it's definitely noticeable. Whether this was done by the design team or the f**kheads who feel a compulsion to steal from the show, I don't know.
Hypothetically speaking, however, I think I would probably steal the couch in Hecate's lair where her 1-on-1's happen.
Can you get into Hecate's lair without being selected by her for a one on one?
And on the subject of the candy shop, I went in there and some girl was standing behind the counter taking one of everything. I didn't want to waste too much time waiting for her to get out of the way so I just left.
The Memento Mori was one of my favorite things that I saw. As a matter of fact I went hunting for my friend just to bring her back to the funeral parlor and show her.
I also thought of something else I'd like to swipe - the teacups in the Manderley dining room!
Can you get into Hecate's lair without being selected by her for a one on one?
No. It's the locked door directly across from the entrance to the rep bar. She wears the key around her neck and only unlocks it right before the 1-on-1.
Have to bump this. (Funnily enough, Hecate pulled me into her lair, made me drink tears, and gave me a note to bring to the porter. I made sure to check out the couch!) Side note: How exactly do you pronounce Hecate? When she grabbed my hand I was so surprised that I said her name, pronounced like, "Heck-it." Did I say it wrong and embarrass myself?
I also got a really really wonderful one on one with a nurse in the forest.
I didn't see anything else I'd like to take, since this time I was much more focused on following actors around. Lady Macduff's track is so wonderful.
And I found a new favorite room - the doctor's office in the psych ward. It's tiny and there's never anyone in there, but the creepiness of it is just delicious.
