Let's wait for word from Producer2 -- you know, the one regularly receiving returns. That said, I come to this thread not to bury the show, 'cause Lord knows I not only dug the grave, but I pushed it in and tried piling more sand on it.
I come to this thread to mourn the passing of a show. Another group of actors struggling to find jobs, another group of investors trying to recover their seed money, another producer trying to spin the news in the most positive manner possible on his blog, another frantic mess. I would wish that on no one.
To the cast, creative team, and crew of Godspell, in the words of Numbers 6:24-26: "May the Lord bless and keep you, may His face shine upon you, may He be gracious to you, and be with you, and give you peace."
Having said my apparently "pretentious" piece, we kind of saw the writing on the wall a long time ago, and the fact that they got nominated for ougatz in the awards was probably the nail in the coffin.
Still, for all it's worth, I wasn't being pretentious; when a show closes, everybody hurts. Did I like the production? No. But am I such a douche that I was rooting for its downfall? Of course not. Hell, I offered to help. C'est la vie.
