Who knew that SCAMDA did the show... I was surfing YouTube tonight and stumbled across this. Apparently it was done in 2010. I don't remember ever hearing that this happened. Does anyone know anything more about this? It looks like the whole thing is up there. Did they get the rights? It seems like there is stuff from the revival in it.
I remember hearing about a Production in a School Gymnasium back in 2001 -Danish I think?, anyone know anything about that? I have the Cast Recording they made....its Bare-able/
I've got the German cast recording, too. It's interesting.
I do think the show can work. The script for the revival isn't really that bad and with some more creative staging of certain scenes and some strong actors, it could still work well enough. Will it ever be a classic? Probably not? But it's at least decent now.
You should see the video of that Danish school production... it's well wow. the director of it sent me a copy years ago with the CDs. There font on the logo was better then what we are getting now.. shame about that cover
This is AMDA-LA if this is AMDA, as i was at the "wonderful" school in 2010 and i would have seen this. I know this is AMDA LA as i i went to the NYC, i doubt they got the rights, and this was probably a class who did this and not as a public performance, as we only really perform for other students. It also doesnt help they have the ENTIRE score and libretto to the original and reading in their libraries, its super easy to get it all and do it.
I saw Carrie this past February. The girl in the video doesn't hold a candle- not even a wick- to Molly Ranson. I remember when Molly sang the line- That's not my name and she held the note out for the longest time. I remember turning to my daughter and saying- Dayum- that girl can SING! I actually enjoyed Carrie and will probably get the cast recording when it comes out.
