Surprising my wife with tickets to Once for her 40th birthday and would like to talk to the house manager about doing something special during the pre-show. Anyone have any idea how to contact someone at Bernard B Jacobs theater? All phone numbers lead to Telecharge. Thanks!
Contact the Shuberts (212)944-3700 Ask for Billy mitchell (The HM at the Jacobs), and I'm sure they can put you in touch with him. He's a really nice guy and I'm sure he'll do what he can to make your wife's B-day special. Enjoy the show and feel free to PM me if you have any more questions
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Thanks for the quick response! It will hopefully be a memorable birthday regardless but I figured it was worth a shot. Will call tomorrow and see if they're open to a small surprise during the pre-show. Thanks again and cheers!
I don't mean to bum you or anything, but I wouldn't get my hopes up. It may be different with the Shuberts, but I've tried several theaters on several occasions to do things like this, and it's been NO. For example, we got my brother tickets to Spider-Man for his 12th birthday, and I called to see if there was any way we could get birthday wishes from the cast, either in person, or video, or even in writing, and they kindly refused. Also, I did a book report on "Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West" by Gregory Maguire and for part of the assignment I had to share my own personal experiences that relate to the book, so I called the Gershwin to see if they could accomodate anything where i could get some pictures of me holding some props, or on the set, or anything, and they said no. But, please, don't let my experiences bum you. It's always worth a shot.
Theatre is my life. No one can take that away from me.
Well, didn't take long to reach the end of the road. Spoke with the Shubert front office and couldn't get through to the house manager. Was told they do not allow any special events during the pre-show. Also, the house manager has no authority in making these decisions any way.
Was able to get in touch directly with the company manager (thanks to this board) but she told me that a) the actors would not be on stage during the pre-show, b) they will not break character at any other time to speak to my wife, and c) there's already a "special event" happening during the pre-show the day we're going.
Thanks everyone for the help and support, was worth a shot. Hope to still make it a memorable birthday and I'm sure she'll enjoy the show. Cheers!
