The Segal Centre for Performing Arts will present the World Yiddish premiere of Soul Doctor: Journey of a Rock Star Rabbi, the new bio-musical based on the life of the controversial father of popular Jewish music, Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach. The Dora Wasserman Yiddish Theatre presents the Yiddish version of the 2013 Broadway bio-musical written by Daniel S. Wise with lyrics by David Schechter from June 8 to June 29, 2014. The Segal Centre for Performing Arts has announced that SOUL DOCTOR: The Journey of a Rock-Star Rabbi, the new musical based on the life of Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, will make its Canadian premiere in Yiddish at the Segal Centre from June 8-29, 2014. Direct from Broadway, Soul Doctor will close the Segal Centre's 2013-2014 Season, replacing the previously announced production of The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz.

The National Yiddish Theatre - Folksbiene's hit musical based on the Academy-Award-nominated film Lies My Father Told Me adapted from the works of Ted Allan will end its highly acclaimed run this upcoming Sunday, December 15. At age 27, Christopher Massimine is the youngest theater executive to oversee the production activities within a major multi-million dollar theatrical organization. Previously holding the position of Marketing Communications Director at The National Yiddish Theatre - Folksbiene, he has now assumed the role as Producing Director where he will act as Supervising Producer on Folksbiene's forthcoming musical production LIES MY FATHER TOLD ME, a critical success in Canada making its American debut at Baruch Performing Arts Center on November 10 and running through December 15.
