The thirteenth annual PEN World Voices Festival of International Literature will focus its lens on today's fractious relationship between gender and power. Taking place in New York City, May 1-7, 2017, the weeklong Festival will use literature and the arts to address how gender both enables and impairs full participation in politics and society.

Young People's Theatre (YPT) is thrilled to present Anita Majumdar's Boys With Cars. An award-winning actress, playwright and dancer, Majumdar wrote, choreographed and performs in this powerful coming of age piece. Commissioned and produced by Nightswimming with additional development support by Young People's Theatre and The Banff Centre, Boys With Cars will be presented on YPT's Mainstage from March 23 to April 1, 2017.

Singer/songwriter Wesley Stace, who will release Wesley Stace's John Wesley Harding on February 24, will embark on a nine-city tour opening for The Jayhawks. Beginning April 11, in Nashville, TN, the tour will include stops in Cleveland, Ann Arbor, Annapolis, Louisville, Madison and Chicago. A full list of dates is below.

Master composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim will receive the 2017 PEN/Allen Foundation Literary Service Award at PEN America's annual Literary Gala on April 25 at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. Actress Meryl Streep, who starred in the 2014 film adaptation of Sondheim's Into the Woods, will present the prize.

In addition to recognizing the talent of this year's 691 YoungArts Winners, the event honored jazz pianist Jason Moran (1993 Winner in Jazz) with the Arison Alumni Award, and choreographer Jessica Lang as the Arison Award Honoree for their vital contributions and commitment to the arts. The New Literature from Europe Festival, New York City's top European literary event, returns in its 13th year to present best-selling, award-winning, and emerging authors from across the continent. The four-day festival welcomes more than 40 authors, journalists, poets and translators in events at bookstores, theatres, and special venues throughout New York City from December 7 to 10. Curated and produced by 20 Square Feet Productions, the programs feature readings, conversations, and panel discussions with European and American literary luminaries.

During this year's Art Basel Miami Beach, the National YoungArts Foundation will host two visual arts exhibitions on their Miami campus, including the debut of a new body of work by José Parlá and an installation of rarely seen masterworks from the JPMorgan Chase Art Collection, as well as a booth at PULSE Miami Beach Contemporary Art Fair. Co-curated by Naomi Fisher (1994 YoungArts Winner in Visual Art) and Luisa Munera, YoungArts Artistic Programs Coordinator, the booth will feature works by ten YoungArts alumni.
