The New York Drama Critics' Circle named David Adjmi’s Stereophonic best play of the 2023-24 season. The award for best musical went to Dead Outlaw, music and lyrics by David Yazbek and Erik Della Penna, book by Itamar Moses. Check out photos from inside the ceremony!

Manhattan Theatre Club just presented its annual Spring Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street. The evening included performances by the casts of many of this Broadway season’s most acclaimed musicals, including Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, Days of Wine and Roses, The Great Gatsby, The Notebook, The Outsiders, The Who’s Tommy, and Water For Elephants. Comedian and solo performer Adam Strauss continues at The Marsh San Francisco with a revised and extended run of his newest show Something Is Wrong with Adam Strauss. Also, while in the Bay Area, he will perform his renowned show, The Mushroom Cure,inspired by a scientific study showing that hallucinogenic mushrooms may cure obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

Every once and a while I see a performance and wonder if there is some stage magic involved. That is how I felt while watching Dead Outlaw. Andrew Durand—giving what The New York Times referred to as a “wow of a performance” —stays so still for such a large portion of the musical that I wondered if a beta blocker was utilized.
