High school best friends and science prodigies C.J. and Sebastian spend every spare minute working on their latest homemade invention: backpacks that enable time travel. But when C.J.'s older brother Calvin dies after an encounter with police officers, the young duo decide to put their unfinished tech to use in a desperate bid to save Calvin.

Netflix and Spike Lee's 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks, Inc to release the time travel drama See You Yesterday. Based on the award-winning short film, the feature centers on two Brooklyn teenage science prodigies, Claudette “C.J.” Walker and Sebastian J. Thomas, who build make-shift time machines to save C.J.'s brother, Calvin, from being wrongfully killed by a police officer. The film is produced by Spike Lee and stars Eden-Duncan Smith (Roxanne Roxanne) and newcomer Danté Crichlow.

Media personality Shefik (Executive Producer and Host of the nationally-syndicated radio show, Shefik presents Invocation) has been named guest speaker at the 7th Annual Broadway Sing for Pride charity event, which takes place at The Goldman-Sonnenfeldt Family Auditorium.

On Monday, June 26, 2017, Broadway Sings for Pride will premiere their 7th anniversary benefit concert in New York City at the JCC Manhattan. This milestone event will be filled with singing (from pop to Broadway), stories, special guests, and, of course, fun! The proceeds will benefit The Tyler Clementi Foundation and Orlando's Contigo Fund.

Mackenzie Ziegler ('Dance Moms') and Casey Simpson (Nickelodeon's 'Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn') hosted Lyrics For Life on Sat, Sept 10, 2016 at Symphony Space. Held on World Suicide Prevention Day, the event aims to raise awareness for suicide prevention and mental health. Proceeds benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, the nation's largest non-profit dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide.

In addition to the day's style sessions and makeovers, 16-year-old Broadway and film actress Eden Duncan-Smith (FENCES, LION KING) joined to offer inspirational remarks to the students in the morning.

The new American play Eclipsed by Danai Gurira, starring Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong'o, officially opened last night, March 6th, 2016 on Broadway at the Golden Theatre (252 W. 45th Street). The play also stars Pascale Armand, Akosua Busia, Zainab Jah and Saycon Sengbloh and is directed by Liesl Tommy. The new American play ECLIPSED by Danai Gurira just began Broadway previews last night, starring Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong'o, Pascale Armand, Akosua Busia, Zainab Jah and Saycon Sengbloh. ECLIPSED, directed by Liesl Tommy, will open on March 6, 2016 on Broadway at the Golden Theatre (252 W. 45th Street). ECLIPSED marks a historic moment on Broadway: the first time the cast, director, and playwright are composed entirely of female artists, fitting for a production that so stunningly chronicles the experiences of a group of very resilient women. To celebrate, the show hosted some of the industry's other trailblazing and history-making women for the first preview. Marcia Pendelton, founder and president of Walk Tall Girl Productions has announced the 15th anniversary celebration of her company. On Monday, September 28, 2015, from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm, Pendelton and her friends from the performing arts, fashion and media will join forces to celebrate her company's work to bring diverse audiences to the arts, on Broadway and beyond. 

Full disclosure, I was completely ready to despise everything about the remake of ANNIE starring Jamie Foxx and Quvenzhane Wallis. In fact, I had already written the lede in my head, and let me tell you, it was scathing. But, then I saw the movie, and was pleasantly surprised by how not completely horrible it was. Yes, it will probably still rank as one of the worst big screen musical adaptations of the past decade; just above the disastrous NINE; but there was plenty to appreciate for musical theatre lovers young and old.

A reading of Harriet, a musical based on the life of Harriet Tubman, will be presented today, July 16, at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., and on Sunday, July 20 at 12 p.m. in The Studio Theatre at Theatre Row, 410 West 42nd Street (between 9th Avenue & Dyer Avenue). Harriet is an official selection of the 2014 New York Musical Theatre Festival.

Actors' Equity Association ('AEA' or Equity) and its Eastern Region Equal Employment Opportunity Committee, together with First Corinthian Baptist Church and Executive Producer and Artistic Producer Project1Voice present 'FOUR LITTLE GIRLS: BIRMINGHAM 1963,' a one night only staged reading event to be held on Monday, February 3rd at 7:30pm at First Corinthian Baptist Church (1912 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd., between West 115th & 116th Streets, Harlem NYC). This Black History Month event is free and open to the public (doors open at 6:45pm; ticketing and entry will be handled on-site, day of show, on a first-come, first-served basis) and will be sign-language-interpreted for theatregoers who are deaf or hard of hearing. A panel discussion will take place immediately following the reading.
